The Web Design course provides students with the basic hands-on skills and knowledge that an Internet professional is expected to understand and use. Students will evaluate web site design, generate web site icons and graphics, and create and maintain web sites. Students will have the opportunity to pursue the Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) designation, which is the industry-leading certification program for the Internet.

The growth of the Internet and the expansion of the World Wide Web (the graphical portion of the Internet) have generated a variety of occupations related to the design, development, and maintenance of web sites and their servers. Internet developers or web developers, also called web designers, are responsible for day-to-day site design and creation.
Employment is expected to increase much faster than the average as organizations continue to adopt increasingly sophisticated technologies.
Job prospects are favorable.
Median annual earnings of all other computer specialists were $54,070 in 2002.
