Advertising and Promotion
Marketing I is an introduction to marketing and the role it plays within the U.S. and global economies. The course emphasis is on market strategic planning and how it is utilized within organizations to create customers and value. Topics covered are buyer behavior, market segmentation, product planning, quality service, promotions, pricing, and managing channel relationships.
Marketing II is designed to expand on the basic marketing concepts learned in Marketing I through hands-on projects, job shadowing and real-life applications. Students are required to operate the school's store, join the local DECA club and participate in competitions.
*This course may be available for college credit through Lake Michigan College.
Marketing managers develop the firm's detailed marketing strategy. With the help of subordinates, including product development managers and market research managers, they determine the demand for products and services offered by the firm and its competitors.
Intense competition for jobs is expected.
College graduates with related experience, a high level of creativity, and strong communication skills should have the best job opportunities.
Median annual earnings in 2014 were $123,450 for advertising, promotions and marketing managers.
