Class Description

Students are instructed in the basic fundamentals of Drafting and Engineering standards needed for entry-level positions in this area. Drafters prepare technical drawings to build industrial machinery and other manufactured products. Mechanical drafters draw detail working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices, including dimensions, tolerances, finishes, and other engineering information. Students are taught using demonstration, technical hands-on-learning experiences, group design projects, and field trips.

Career Outlook

The employment of industrial designers is expected to grow by 3 percent from 2018 to 2028. Increasing consumer demand for new products and new product styles should increase demand for industrial designers.
